Digitally Renovated Palace of Justice in Brussels Unveiled

Redesigned using the OnePlus Nord 4, the only 5G Smartphone with a Metal Unibody

Rotterdam, October 3, 2024 – Leading technology brand OnePlus has today released a creative video showcasing a reimagined Palace of Justice in Brussels. OnePlus offers a contemporary perspective on the imposing monumental building, which has been under scaffolding for 40 years. The video depicts how the courthouse would look if completed today. This innovative result was achieved using the design philosophy of the OnePlus Nord 4, the only 5G smartphone with a metal unibody.

The Iconic Courthouse with Metal Structures
The Palace of Justice in Brussels has been undergoing renovation for over 40 years. Generations have been born who have never seen the palace without the accompanying scaffolding. The scaffolding has been there so long that it even needed repairs itself. Using the OnePlus Nord 4, the remarkable result of a digitally completed courthouse that will last for years has been achieved. This is supported by the strong aluminum body, which is more resistant to scratches and drop damage than a glass body.

“It’s fantastic to digitally bring to life the Palace of Justice in Brussels with our latest smartphone – the OnePlus Nord 4. Built from a single piece of aluminum, exuberating a premium metal design, the device is the perfect choice as it combines durability with a contemporary finished look,” said Alexander Vanderhaeghe, Country Manager Benelux at OnePlus. “It shines a new perspective on design and build, both for the Palace of Justice and the smartphones of the future.”

The Striking Design of the OnePlus Nord 4
The creative idea for the video was inspired not only by technological developments but also by the modern design of the OnePlus Nord 4. The back of the Mercurial Silver model features 2D laser markings, creating a stunning effect when exposed to sunlight. This effect served as the starting point for reimagining the iconic building. It offers a contemporary perspective on the Palace of Justice as it would be completed today. The brand aims to bridge the gap between past and future, from the grandeur of the centuries-old Palace of Justice to the aesthetics of modern smartphones.

While many phones were made of metal in the past, the arrival of 5G required more antennas in smartphones. This forced technology brands to design constructions with less metal and more glass. However, metal offers numerous advantages. This was precisely the reason for OnePlus to create the OnePlus Nord 4, a device that evokes a sense of beauty, durability, and strength. During the development of the OnePlus Nord 4, the  company made several technological breakthroughs, such as creating compact 5G antennas that are over 50% smaller than before and redesigning the motherboard for clearer signal transmission and reception.
